Phanish Puranam studies the design of collaboration structures, within as well as between firms. He uses formal models as well as empirical analyses in his research. His research on “The foundations of organization design” was selected for funding on a competitive basis by the European Research Council. In Phanish’s role as the Co-Director of the Aditya Birla India Centre at the School, and as a visiting faculty member at the Indian School of Business, he is actively engaged with research and practice in India. In January 2012, Harvard Business Review Press published his book “India Inside” on the innovation trajectory of the country (co-authored with Nirmalya Kumar).
