Ryan Burg completed a joint Ph.D. in Business Ethics and Sociology in the spring of 2011. He now serves as an Assistant Professor in the Management faculty at the National Research University - Higher School of Economics in Moscow.
His research explores the career trajectories and experiences of employees who have been displaced from work by failing firms. Utilizing qualitative research methods and survey-based social network analysis, Ryan's work considers the dissemination of norms and routines from failing firms into new and established organizations. Ryan is interested in the location and stabilization of social norms within organizations, interpersonal networks, and individual careers. He is similarly interested in the timing of property claims to profit generated by organizations in the course of failure.
He is now pursuing these research interests in Russia, and exploring the emergence and maintenance of social norms within a new cultural context.
